I found this interesting diagram on Fabulously Broke in the City who found it on Substance Over Stuff. I was amazed that the average American spent more on transportation than food which is probably why we have such a high obesity rate now (thanks to all of that "cheap" fast food). What are your thoughts?
Thanks for your comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteA number of years ago I decided to really start tracking my spending. I used Quicken (which had come with my computer when I got it) to track not only my credit card bills and checking account, but my CASH spending. It's amazing how quickly it can slip away!
I found it SO helpful. Not only did I know exactly how much money was going to various places, allowing me to see where I could realistically cut back, but it really stopped me from spending thoughtlessly... even when I thought I was "being good", I guess I hadn't realized how much those cups of coffee, tabloid magazines, quick snacks etc added up...
